Since the last update

It has been nearly 9 months since we last updated our site, not necessarily because we’ve had nothing to report, but on the contrary, because we’ve been so busy!

All sections have continued to grow, with close to 100 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders on our books. This is all thanks to the fantastic effort our leaders put in every week to ensure that they have a fun, varied and adventurous programme. If you are interested in joining the fun as one of our team members, do contact us via our contact page.

It would take too long to write down everything we’ve done over the last 9 months in one post, so instead, we’ll focus on our last two camps.

At the end of March the 14th Southgate (and some 4th Southgate Scouts) visited Thriftwood for an activity-based camp. We had 46 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts fishing, climbing, kayaking, cooking and fire lighting on what was an exceptionally wet weekend. The weather did not dampen our spirits one bit however.

On the May bank holiday, the scouts (again, alongside the 4th Southgate) spent 3 days hiking and bouldering in the Peak District. The weather was extremely kind, offering us fantastic views and favourable conditions for climbing. On Saturday, we had groups hiking along Kinder Scout and Rushup Edge while on Sunday, we hiked to B29 Superfortress crash site on Bleaklow Moor from Glossop. We followed this up with an afternoon of bouldering at Burbage South and put our climbing shoes on again at Stanedge Edge on Monday morning.
