With 2020 drawing to a close, we’re all hoping that 2021 will bring back some normality and a chance to all meet together again. In the meantime, orienteering courses have been set up around Grovelands Park and Merryhills to keep the Scouters (and their parents) map-reading knowledge sharp. These shall be checked and maintained until the new year.

New Beavers + Back Online
It was fun while it lasted, but with a national lockdown to last until at least December, we shall be spending the next month online using zoom and completing other activities to earn badges.
We managed to pack in a lot over 2 months: Hikes, Firelighting, Climbing, Cooking and completing the DIY & Scientist badges.
Last week we went out with a bang, celebrating bonfire night with guy building, campfire songs, smores and sparklers. And on the Wednesday we were also joined by 7 new Beavers, who we hope to see returning in a month’s time.
Meeting Face to Face
With restrictions on social distancing beginning to be relaxed, the Cubs have restarted their weekly meetings, with the pack meeting on Wednesday & Thursday afternoons to ensure that no more than 15 people are attending at one time. Over the past 2 weeks they have been practicing their knot tying and backwoods cooking, with further DIY, gardening and pioneering projects planned over the coming weeks as more of the Cubs return from holiday.
Scouting at home
First Post
As the Covid-19 outbreak has resulted in a temporary halt to face-to-face Scouting activities, we have not been meeting for the last few weeks and this is set to continue into the near future. Happily, the extended time at home has created the time necessary to develop a new website! The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been given lots of different activities by their leaders to hone their Scouting skills at home; The results of which will be topic of the next blog post in a few weeks.
